The TEFL Institute

Pros and cons
Code Labs Academy
Pros
- A free tier is available, so you can sample course material before paying for a place.
- Access lasts 3 to 6 months, so a paid enrolment has a clear finish rather than a rolling charge.
- A team plan is available, which covers employers buying seats for a group of learners.
Cons
- The entry price of €999 sits well above the €35.08 median across the platforms listed here.
- The certificate on offer is a completion certificate, completion, so there is no professional or university credit route listed.
- Access is capped at 3 to 6 months, so anyone working at a slower pace can run out of time on a fixed window.
The TEFL Institute
Pros
- The exam fee is included in the course price, so there is no separate exam payment to budget for on top of tuition.
- The advanced TEFL course runs 120 hours of study, with a completion pace of 2 to 4 weeks for anyone planning a study schedule.
- Support runs on email, phone and help centre, so a phone line and a help centre sit alongside email during the course.
Cons
- There is no free tier, so the only no-cost option is the test TEFL course that runs 3 days.
- The certification carries no practicum, so supervised classroom practice has to be arranged outside the programme.
- A free trial length of 3 days places The TEFL Institute low on that measure among the brands compared here.
Who each suits
Code Labs Academy
Who it suits

- Employers buying seats for several learners, since a team plan is available.
- Learners who are comfortable paying fees of €999 for a programme with a set end date.
Who should look elsewhere
- Not for buyers shopping at the free end: Hotmart lists $0 and is free, though it sells many sellers' material rather than a guided bootcamp.
- Not for nursing or fitness qualifications: DRCertifications starts at $19.99 and Academy for Health and Fitness at £25, in health subjects outside coding, data and it.
The TEFL Institute
Who it suits
- Learners who want a TEFL certificate with the exam fee already included and no separate certificate charge.

Questions about each
Code Labs Academy
How much does Code Labs Academy cost?+
The lowest published figure is €999, and that is the entry point for a bootcamp place rather than a monthly subscription. Across the platforms listed here the median entry price is €35.08, so this one sits well above the middle. The free tier gives you a way to look at the material before paying anything.
Is there a free tier at Code Labs Academy?+
Yes. A free tier is available, so you can open the learning hub and sample course material at no charge. The paid alternative starts at €999 and runs for 3 to 6 months, which makes the free option a sensible way to see whether the teaching style suits you before you commit to a place.
The TEFL Institute
How much does a TEFL certificate from The TEFL Institute cost?+
The listed entry price is $40 and the certificate fee is $0, so the certificate is not a separate charge added on afterwards. Read those lines together rather than the headline figure alone. A cheaper starting price elsewhere does not always mean a cheaper finished certificate, since certificate charges often sit outside the entry number.
Can I try The TEFL Institute for free before paying?+
There is no free tier, so nothing on the paid catalogue opens at no cost. What is free is a test TEFL course that runs 3 days, long enough to see how the material is organised and how the assessments are framed. It samples the course rather than granting permanent free access, so the paid course still has to be budgeted for.
