Pros and cons
Duden Learnattack
Pros
- Leads the free trial length ranking at 1 of 9, giving families more time to judge the app than most rivals allow.
- A free tier means 40,000 courses can be browsed before a plan is chosen.
- Subscription price ranks 4 of 28, so a renewal sits near the cheap end of the field.
Cons
- The catalogue is in German only, so a child studying another language at school gets nothing from it.
- It serves a single market, DE, so the pricing and the curriculum are built for German schools rather than a wider market.
- There is no live tutor in the package: the lesson format is app, so a family wanting spoken help has to look elsewhere.
TrueFire
Pros
- All Access is a subscription that unlocks 1,900 courses across the whole library.
- A 7-day free trial opens the entire library before you commit, and free sample lessons sit on most course pages.
- Assessment tools set a starting point, suggest lessons and then track progress.
Cons
- The terms bar anyone under 13 from the site and its services.
- Refunds sit within 14 days of delivery, so a later decision falls outside the window.
- Support runs on email, help centre and community only, so a phone call is not an option.
Who each suits
Duden Learnattack
Who it suits
- German families with school age children who want more practice in math, english and science without booking a tutor.
- Parents who want a long window before paying, since the free trial runs 30 days and the refund promise matches it.
- Learners who prefer short self paced sessions over scheduled lessons, since the lesson format is app.
Who should look elsewhere
- Parents looking for English language reading material: the catalogue is in German alone, so Readability is the alternative to weigh for English practice.
- Budgets that want the lowest listed subscription: Starfall's is $5.99 and Readability's is $19.99, so compare both against the €6.63 rate here before deciding.
- Families who want live teaching: the lesson format here is app, and Schülerhilfe is the listed alternative to check when the delivery model is the deciding factor.
TrueFire
Who it suits
- Guitar players who want plenty to choose from, with 1,900 courses in a single membership.
- Learners who would rather be told where to start, since assessment tools set a starting point and recommend lessons.
- Practisers who watch on a desktop or a phone, because the apps carry lessons on both.
Who should look elsewhere
- Anyone under 13, who the terms keep off the site.
- Players who want lesson files they keep after cancelling, since offline downloads are sold separately.
- Readers after subjects outside music, because the catalogue is built around guitar, electric and bass.

Questions about each
Duden Learnattack
How much does Duden Learnattack cost?+
Entry pricing starts at €6.63 and the monthly plan is €6.63. Across the plans the subscription runs €6.63 to €19.97, so the price at renewal sits in the same band as the price met at signup rather than jumping to a different tier. Prices are in euro and quoted for the German market.
Is there a free trial or a free version?+
A free tier is available, so the courses can be sampled before any payment, and the free trial runs 30 days, the longest trial in the ranking. The trial length and the refund window are the same, so an undecided family can start a plan and still walk away from the opening period without a loss.
TrueFire
How much does TrueFire cost?+
All Access is quoted on the annual plan, billed at $143.88 for the year, which works out at $11.99 a month. The monthly number is the annual rate spread across the year, so the yearly sum is what you commit to. Keep both figures in view when you weigh entry price against renewal.
Can I try TrueFire before I pay?+
Yes. A 7-day free trial of All Access opens the entire library with no commitment attached. Free sample lessons also sit on most course pages, so you can watch before subscribing and judge the playing style and the teaching voice.
