Our verdict
IPTA suits people who want a fitness certification with the exam fee already included and support while studying, at $399 for the entry plan. Its 7 days money back window is shorter than the 7-day typical for this category, so the exam and job support matter more.

Pros and cons
Pros
- Exam fee included, so the $399 entry price covers the assessment as well as the course.
- Tutor support and job support both included, which most of the 46 brands in this ranking do not pair.
- NCCA accreditation, the body behind 37.5% of the fitness certifications compared here.
- Study runs online or in person, and completion takes 16 weeks.
- Support covers email, chat and phone, including a help centre, which is more than 17.4% of this ranking offer.
Cons
- The 7 days money back window is shorter than the 7-day median for career certifications.
- Only 37.5% of the fitness certifications compared here carry NCCA accreditation, so employers who expect other bodies may look elsewhere.
- The $399 figure is a starting price rather than a single fixed plan, and no renewal price is stated for the certification.
- Recertification falls due every 2 years, which adds a further cost after the first pass.
Who it suits
- Adults who want a fitness certification and a study route they can finish at home, given online and in person delivery.
- Trainers who need the exam covered up front, since the exam fee is included in the $399 entry price.
- Learners who want tutor and job support in the same package.
Who should look elsewhere
- Anyone needing a coaching qualification, since Marisa Peer cert type is coaching.
- IT and tech exam candidates, since CrackCerts covers it and Testprep Training covers it.
- Employers who require an accreditation outside ncca.
What it does well
The exam fee is included, which means the $399 entry price covers the certification exam alongside the course rather than charging a separate assessment charge. Tutor support is available, so questions during study go to a tutor rather than to a forum only, and job support is part of the package. The programme runs online or in person, and completion takes 16 weeks. Recertification is needed every 2 years, so the qualification is not a one-time purchase. The 7 days money back window gives a short testing period after enrolling.
Who runs it
IPTA is run by International Personal Trainer Academy, which is based in the United States. Support runs on email, chat and phone, so phone and chat sit alongside email and a self service help centre. The accreditation listed is ncca, a scheme that appears on 37.5% of the certifications in this ranking.

Frequently asked questions
What does the IPTA certification cost?+
The entry price for the personal trainer certification is $399. That starting figure is for the course itself, and the exam fee is included in it, so no separate exam charge applies. The legal entity behind the programme is International Personal Trainer Academy.
Is the exam fee included in the price?+
Yes. The exam fee is included in what you pay, so the $399 entry price is the whole starting cost rather than a course fee with an assessment charge on top. That matters because €36.39 is the median certificate fee across the certifications compared on this site.
How long does the certification take to finish?+
Completion takes 16 weeks. The programme is available online and in person, so the pace suits people fitting study around work, and tutor support is available for questions along the way.
What accreditation does IPTA hold?+
The listed accreditation is ncca. It is a recognised scheme in this field, appearing on 37.5% of the certifications compared here, though employers who want a different accreditor will not be covered.
Do I need to recertify later?+
Yes, recertification is required every 2 years. Plan for that follow-on cost at the start rather than treating the $399 entry price as the full lifetime cost of holding the qualification.
What support do I get while studying?+
Tutor support is included, and job support comes with the certification as well. Support runs on email, chat and phone, so you can reach people by phone, chat or email, or use the help centre.
Can I get my money back if it is not for me?+
There is a 7 days money back window after enrolling. That is shorter than the 7-day median money back period across this ranking, so read the terms before paying.
Is this a fitness or an IT course?+
It is a fitness certification from International Personal Trainer Academy, based in the United States. CrackCerts covers it exam prep and Testprep Training covers it, so those suit tech candidates rather than fitness ones.
