Background and growth

Booktopia was founded in 2004 and is headquartered in Sydney, operating as an online bookseller and distributor. The catalogue spans physical books, eBooks and audiobooks, supported by warehouse operations that handle orders across the country. In 2020 the company took on a university bookstore chain and moved its textbook sales online, which added study titles to the range. The same year it launched a joint venture that brings eBooks and downloadable audiobooks to a dedicated app.

Australian online bookseller

The brand is Australian owned and based in Sydney, operating as an online bookseller with a broad reach across Australia and New Zealand. Its catalogue covers physical books, eBooks and audiobooks, giving readers a mix of print and digital choices. Diaries and journals sit in the range too, which helps planners and students organise their time. For readers who want one place to shop for study, reading and gifts, the range brings several categories together.

Study and family extras

Textbooks sit beside general reading, and the range also includes games, puzzles and stationery for children and adults alike. Such variety means families can buy a story, a puzzle and a notebook together. Students can keep course books and leisure reading in the same place, which makes planning a term's worth of books far more straightforward. This range suits households with different interests, so each member can find something to read or play with.
